Coriolanus is the name given to a Roman general after her military feats against the Volscians at Corioli. Following her success, others encourage Coriolanus to pursue the consulship, but her disdain for the plebeians and mutual hostility with the tribunes lead to her banishment from Rome. In exile, she presents herself to the Volscians, then leads them against Rome. After she relents and agrees to a peace with Rome, she is killed by her previous Volscian allies.
