Our Boat is Afloat!

In October 2018, Silver Spring Stage was underwater – literally and figuratively. A flood in the theater meant cancelling half of the performances of Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight and the extensive damage was not covered by insurance. Cleanup and necessary repairs created huge unexpected costs for the Stage, amounting to more than a quarter of our typical annual revenues. We needed a lot of money, fast, and we weren’t sure we could get it.

With some trepidation, we began a fundraising push with a stretch goal of $30,000 by January 1 – the largest sum we have ever tried to raise. We were awed by the response from our donors and are delighted to announce that we have received the full amount of our goal, and more, ahead of the deadline. The final total from the campaign is over $33,000. We are deeply grateful to all of you who have helped us continue to provide outstanding theater that engages and enriches our community.
