In October, we suffered serious flooding that resulted in expensive repairs and lost revenue due to the cancellation of half of our performances of Emilie: La Marquise Du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight. Our insurance did not cover us for this disaster and now we are in serious financial straits. The immediate expenses of this disaster alone amount to almost a quarter of our typical annual revenue.
Unlike many community theater groups, Silver Spring Stage has the benefit of a large space to call our own, which lets us be a vibrant theater force all year long. But it also means expenses are steep. And we have to keep our equipment functioning, our space clean, and everything ready – and safe – for our actors, directors, production staff, and audiences.
The truth: this recent disaster has made it much more difficult to meet our expenses. We need to raise $30,000 to get us through the crisis.
Your gift to our Refloat Our Boat campaign can help the Stage meet its current challenge and continue to bring you theater you love. Whether you can give $100, $500, $1,000, or more, your donation will bolster the Stage’s financial well-being, artistic excellence, and community spirit.
Thank you very much for your support.
